When Your "Out of Office" is Out of Order

In Outlook (not the Outlook Web Access that you may use in a browser), there is sometimes a problem when you try to set up your "Out of Office" message. You click on it and you get a message about the server being busy.

Here's how to fix that. You can do this on your own; you don't need Computer Services assistance to do this.

Close Outlook on your computer. Go to Start and then Control Panel.

If your Control panel has "categories" you need to change that to "small icons" to get to the next step.

Click on Mail

Then click on Email Accounts

Then click on your name -- so it's highlighted -- and then on Repair.

Leave the Email Account radio button selected and click Next.

Wait for it to whirr and clack for a bit and you should get three green checkmarks!

Click Finish and then Close all the windows that say that and you should be all set. Test it to make sure.

If you do this and you are still having problems, make a help desk call. Be sure to say that you have tried the Repair and that still has not fixed it.
